Scorekeeper "job description"

You will be looking after a "section", which is jargon for a group of about 18 players. Your job is mostly pairing up the kids for games, and writing down their results. Knowledge of chess is NOT necessary.

Training and support: We have a group training session in the morning, and during the day the room manager and overall organiser circulate, making sure you are okay.

Take a look at this example pairing card, and then look at the simplified pairing rules.,

There are a number of questions-and-answers here, which cover most of the common situations.

Arbiter "job description"

You will wander about the playing room, making the first response to players who have a problem. It could be "he's kicking me under the table", or perhaps a misunderstanding of the rules of chess.

Training and support: We have no training, we expect arbiters to know the rules of chess. Common problems, and solutions, are here. The rules of chess are available on-line in adult language or kid language.
